The Trail Blazer Run Story: The Trail Blazer Run is a 5-mile trail run that was established in 2012 and has become East Bradford Township’s largest annual recreation event. Consistently featuring over 300 participants, 50 volunteers and dozens of sponsors from the local community, the run takes place once per year and all proceeds benefit the Township’s popular public trail program. The event has found a fantastic home on the beautiful and historic grounds of Paradise Farm Camps and has been held there every year since 2013. Children’s Country Week Association, the organization that owns and operates Paradise Farm Camps, has supported the event from its inception and has been a great partner to the Township, as have so many friends and businesses from the community. Victory Brewing Co. is one of the event’s primary sponsors and has hosted the post-run awards party every year with all participants and volunteers receiving a free beverage from Victory.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the Trail Blazer Run go to East Bradford Township’s public trail program. These funds help pay for tools, equipment and materials that the Township’s 100+ strong corps of park and trail volunteers need to maintain over 19 miles of trails (and counting) spread across 24 properties totaling 750 acres of land. Some of the Township’s most popular trails are located at Harmony Hill Nature Area, Shaw’s Bridge Park, and at Sugar’s Bridge Nature Area. In addition to supporting trail maintenance, proceeds from the Trail Blazer Run also help fund the planning and development of new trails, including the planned extension of the East Branch Brandywine Trail and a planned Plum Run Trail at the Strode’s Mill Historic District. The Trail Blazer Run’s main purpose is to benefit the community and it has only succeeded thanks to the generous and ongoing support of the community.
